Adopting healthier lifestyles - healthier eating and increased activity levels

A survey of 20,000 readers of Slimming World’s own magazine (the UK’s biggest selling health and fitness title) confirms that Food Optimising is not a quick fix, it’s easy to sustain and produces noticeable health benefits, while Slimming World’s activity programme is making an impact on fitness and wellbeing:

  • Around half of members (49%) have been Food Optimising between one month and a year
  • A quarter (27%) have been Food Optimising for longer than a year – indicating sustained behaviour change
  • Three quarters buy more fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Three quarters eat less fatty food
  • Two thirds eat fewer sugary foods
  • Half buy more low fat dairy products
  • 81% say Food Optimising is not as difficult as other diets
  • 60% eat fewer take-away and ready meals
  • 75% have influenced other people to make healthier food choices because of their new knowledge of Food Optimising
  • 90% of Food Optimisers say they are healthier
  • 38% say their partners are healthier and 30 % say their children are too
  • 10% have cut down medication for high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes and other ailments
  • discovering Body Magic doubles members’ chances of getting active
  • at 3 months members are more mobile, have more energy and more weight loss
  • they have more confidence, are less tired, sleep better and are less stressed
  • a quarter of members with 5 stone or more to lose have become more active because of Body Magic
  • over half are influencing partners, friends and family to get more active too
