Adopting healthier lifestyles - healthier eating and increased activity levels
A survey of 20,000 readers of Slimming World’s own magazine (the UK’s biggest selling health and fitness title) confirms that Food Optimising is not a quick fix, it’s easy to sustain and produces noticeable health benefits, while Slimming World’s activity programme is making an impact on fitness and wellbeing:
- Around half of members (49%) have been Food Optimising between one month and a year
- A quarter (27%) have been Food Optimising for longer than a year – indicating sustained behaviour change
- Three quarters buy more fresh fruit and vegetables
- Three quarters eat less fatty food
- Two thirds eat fewer sugary foods
- Half buy more low fat dairy products
- 81% say Food Optimising is not as difficult as other diets
- 60% eat fewer take-away and ready meals
- 75% have influenced other people to make healthier food choices because of their new knowledge of Food Optimising
- 90% of Food Optimisers say they are healthier
- 38% say their partners are healthier and 30 % say their children are too
- 10% have cut down medication for high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes and other ailments
- discovering Body Magic doubles members’ chances of getting active
- at 3 months members are more mobile, have more energy and more weight loss
- they have more confidence, are less tired, sleep better and are less stressed
- a quarter of members with 5 stone or more to lose have become more active because of Body Magic
- over half are influencing partners, friends and family to get more active too
